"Whoever fasted for the faith and sincerity, then it is past sins will be forgiven."
The sentence above is an excerpt from the hadith of Abu Hurairah that the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam said,
من صام رمضان إيمانا واحتسابا غفر له ما تقدم من ذنبه
"Anyone who fasts in Ramadan because of faith and hope for reward from Allah the sins of the past must be forgiven." (Narrated by Bukhari and Muslim)
Ibn Baththol rahimahullah said, "What is meant by faith is to justify the necessity of fasting and reward from Allah when one is fasting and praying qiyaam implement ramadhan. While the definition of "ihtisaban" is God's desire to reward the fast and always hoped his face. "(Sharh al-Bukhari Libni Baththol, 7: 22). In essence, fasting is based on faith and sincerity that is reaping the return forgiveness of past sins .
